Awards CEO Carol Coetzee said this year’s ceremony received 118 entries.
“The awards are growing each year. Those in the film and television industry are starting to realise how important it is to be part of this ceremony,” said Coetzee.
“The Sabelas continue to grow from strength to strength, which indicates the KZN film industry is moving in the right direction.
“The amount of support we received from our partners has been phenomenal. Our newly formed partnership with Lux will go a long way to ensure that women filmmakers are motivated to excel at their craft.”
She said the organisers are looking forward to hosting the awards next year, where the stakes will be even higher.
