THIS IS HOW TWITTER REACTED TO THE #VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE OUTCOME
African National Congress (ANC) National Spokesperson Zizi Kodwa said the motion was never about the president, but about trying to remove the ANC from government through undemocratic means.
President Jacob Zuma has survived his eighth no confidence vote and Mzansi people took to twitter to air their views.
The motion of no confidence was held through a secret ballot, with opposition parties hoping the vote would go against Zuma.
The ANC Chief Whip said he was relieved that the president managed to survive the motion.Zuma also addressed Western Cape ANC members outside parliament and expressed his gratitude over the vote outcome.
“The ANC was voted into power by an overwhelming number of the South African population, it’s impossible to remove it through unconstitutional means”. Said Zuma
The Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema said today was an indication that democracy is working.
“As long as he is there we are going to do all we can to remove him. We made history today with 35 ANC MPs voting with us” Malema said.
“Seven motions were presented previously and we never got a single vote from the ANC. When we said we are eating the elephant bit by bit people thought we were joking”
