LUSANDA MBANE: BONISWA FROM GENERATIONS FACE TO FACE
But in real life her passion is inspiring and empowering women through her organisation Zazi, Zithembe and Zithande.
Lusanda Mbane is best known for playing the good wife in a polygamous marriage on e.tv’s Scandal.
When Lusanda recently sat down with Daily Sun, her message to the women of Mzansi was: “Know who you are, love yourself and be OK with the way you are when you look in the mirror. Talk positively about yourself and never doubt yourself.”
Lusanda, who gives inspirational seminars for young women, said her goal was to see every hardworking girl being given access to education.
She also works as a radio presenter on Tru FM, where she hosts the Nest show every Sunday between 9am and midday.
“I enjoy interviewing celebrities, particularly those who come from humble beginnings.”
Lusanda, who was born in Butterworth in the Eastern Cape, said she always knew she wanted to work in the entertainment industry. Her first appearances on TV were in adverts and later she had a small role on Muvhango. In 2010 and 2011, she also played Naomi Molotana on SABC1 soapie Generations.
Lusanda said playing the role of Boniswa had brought her closer to her mother tongue.
“I have read a lot about isiXhosa and I am able to use a lot of idioms and proverbs. My fans like it when I speak isiXhosa on TV.”
