Zambia election Update: Graduation gowns on show as unemployed youths cast their vote

Zambia election Update: Graduation gowns on show as unemployed youths cast their vote. Our colleague Kennedy Gondwe in the capital, Lusaka, spotted one man who was in such a hurry that he didn’t get properly dressed.
If you hoped to avoid waiting for a long time to vote in Zambia you had to turn up early. Chimwemwe Chuwa says he realised too late it was time to vote and in a bid to beat the long queues had to go in his dressing gown and slippers. He still ended up waiting:
And another voter, Charles Masompe, wore his graduation gown. He later tweeted a video of himself being cheered into the polling station after he was allowed to jump the queue:
Thank you UNZA for the welcome of my grand arrival. Thank you for not allowing me to queue. I know most of you have been here as early as midnight but you still had to let me in and cast my vote. Thank you, one love. #ZambiaDecides2021 pic.twitter.com/4Z61grJvKG
