Woman commits suicide on discovering son has mental illness
Sombre mood has engulfed Sachingoma village in Gokwe following a suspected suicide by an elderly woman who allegedly took pesticides after discovering that her son has a mental illness.
Villagers who spoke about the death of mbuya Chikambani who was found yesterday – two days after her death – in the fields.
“The old granny had gone to Harare to see her son who looked after her, only to return crying on Thursday.
She told the whole village that her bread winner had gone insane hence there was no reason for her to live since she did not know who was responsible for the mental illness of her son.
“We spent two days without seeing her, she was subsequently seen by cattle heard man dead in the fields.
“She is suspected to have taken cotton pesticides,” explained the source.
