SHE was robbed of her money and identity document and to add insult to injury, she was klapped three times in the presence of cops.

Maria Ndumo (30) from Rosettenville, east of Joburg, said she was manhandled by a tavern owner last Friday, after she went to his tavern to identify boys who had robbed her.

Maria said: “It was about 9pm when our work transport dropped me off at the corner of our street.

“There were four boys behind me and when I tried to walk quickly, they caught up with me.

“One of them throttled me and threatened to stab me. As he held me, the other three searched my bag, took the R1500 that was in my purse and my ID.”Robbed and beaten_345x240_B

They fled after she screamed.
Maria called her pastor, who came with a few other people and, they searched for the robbers. Their first stop was a nearby tavern.

“I went inside and pointed them out to the cops. The tavern owner told me to stop bothering his customers.

“The next thing he gave me a hot klap across the face. Two other slaps followed – and the cops just stood there,” said Maria.

Maria said she was then lifted up by three guys and forcibly escorted from the tavern.

“The cops simply followed them and told me to go home because I was drunk,” added Maria.

Colonel Noxolo Kweza said: “The suspect has been arrested.

Initially, the complainant did not point out the suspect. She said she did not know who assaulted her.

“In terms of the allegations against the cops, she can open a case and the allegations will be investigated by the Independent
Police Investigative Directorate.”
