A Group of Diepsloot residents have embarked on a violent protest today. They have barricaded roads with burning tyres and are also reported to be throwing rocks at passing cars.

JMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said motorists should avoid the R511 road.

The N14 highway was also closed and officers are working to clear it.

The protest is believed to be about electrical issues in the area. Police are monitoring the situation.
