Video footage of the accident has emerged, showing the car speeding in what seems to be an attempt to beat the train to the railway crossing.

A train and vehicle collided at Tarlton near Krugersdorp on Saturday afternoon.

Four people sustained injuries after the collision with the train, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care.

Metrorail and the South African Police Services (SAPS) are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
