MOJALIFA was accused of stealing a TV set and paid for the alleged theft with his life.
The incident happened two weeks ago in Vlakfontein, south of Joburg.
Mojalifa died at the house of the couple that accused him of stealing the TV.
Witness France Thiko (43) said: “I tried to stop them from hitting him, but I was too late.”
Mojalifa’s dad Gert (50), also of Vlakfontein, said his son had moved to live with his sister in Thembelihle.
Gert said: “There were cops at the scene but they refused to take my statement.
“We went to the police station the next day and we were given a case number. And that was the end of it.”
Gert said he is not getting any help from the cops, the councillor Thabile Nkosi or the woman at whose house his son was murdered.
Gert said he told the couple that she and her husband must pay for his son’s funeral.
“This woman told me she would rather eat my son than bury him,” Gert alleged.
The Cayi family said five suspects were arrested, including the couple, but were released on bail after members of the community protested for their release.
“I believe the councillor is helping the couple and that is why they are out on bail,” he added.
Nkosi said: “These accusations makes me angry because I was not even around when the incident occurred.
“The case is in the hands of the police now and I don’t want to get involved.”
Captain Fazile Malesa said the case number given to the family does not relate to the death of the young man, but
relates to a railway crossing
