School burnt Books And Computers Destroyed Over Toilet Issues
Cops are still unsure of the motive behind the destruction but it is possible that it’s related to ongoing protest action by learners who are demanding toilets at their school.
Cops in Hlanganani outside Giyani, Limpopo have launched a manhunt for a group of suspects who torched a library at Akani High School last night.
On Monday, grade 12 pupils were expected to write an English examination but they didn’t show up.
It was reported that they have boycotted their mid-year examinations Various items including books and computers were completely trashed.
The damage is estimated at about R100 000.
Provincial police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the situation in the area is still volatile as most of the roads are still barricaded with stones and branches.
Members of Public Order Police Unit have been deployed in the area to stabilise the situation.
