Stanley Ndhlovu_402x239_BPOLICE arrived in time to save an alleged thief from death at the hands of angry residents, but cops couldn’t bust anyone!

The man who allegedly broke into a hairdressing salon managed to escape . . .

And the salon owner himself ran away!

Elius Langa (32) said his salon in Diepsloot’s extension 1, north of Joburg, had been broken into twice in the past three weeks. The last time was on Friday.

Among the stolen items were solar panels which provided power to the salon, as well as hairpieces, treatment products and a portable music system.

On Saturday Elius was repairing the damage to the salon when Pretty Ndhlovu (25) arrived.

She offered him a one-litre bucket of hair product for R30. Elius recognised the product that had been stolen from his shop three weeks ago.

He called residents, who forced Pretty to take them to a shack in extension 2, where her boyfriend Stanley Ndhlovu was found relaxing in bed.

When the shack was searched, most of the items stolen from the salon were found by residents.

They took Stanley outside and started beating and throwing stones at him.

He was saved from necklacing when a resident called the cops.

When police asked Stanley who had assaulted him, he pointed out Elius.

Elius, suddenly scared that he might be in trouble, ran away, and so did Stanley, leaving the cops with nobody to arrest.

Elius didn’t lay a charge and Stanley is still in hiding.

Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Katlego Mohale said no case had been opened.
