Thando Thabethe: Learn to put yourself first
The past year has been a great one for Thando Thabethe when it comes to her career. The actress not only had a big role on Mzansi Magic’s Housekeepers, but she also got to travel quite a lot around the world as one of the brand ambassadors for Cîroc. We had a chat with the star, who opened about her 2018, and plans for this year.
You’ve had an amazing 2018, please tell us about your year.
My 2018 was all about growth; it was a continuation of the few years prior where I just worked even harder realise my dreams and achieve my goals. I must say I did better than I anticipated.
You joined celebs like Cassper Nyovest to become one of the brand ambassadors for luxury vodka brand Cîroc. How did that deal with come about?
We met with the team at Cîroc and it was obvious from our first meeting that there was great synergy between the Cîroc brand and I. We met again and then the rest is history. I’ve never looked back. As brand ambassador, I represent the brand to the public, like all other ambassadors of the brand, our role is to show case the Cîroc lifestyle, which is about living your best life, and always aspiring to be amazing and do amazing things.
What does this partnership mean for your career?
It means that I’ve worked hard enough and a brand as big as Cîroc recognises that. It’s a stamp of approval that all the many hours I spent building my brand were not in vain and I’ve built a strong enough brand that Cîroc can partner with.
What else are your working on?
I’m working on my upcoming movie, Love Lives Here, it comes out on the 29th of March, and my company is involved in the marketing of the film, so I’m very excited about that. Work is also continuing on my annual netball tournament, my Thabooty’s brand is also doing well and I’m working on making it even in bigger in 2019!
What are your biggest lessons from 2018?
Live your best life, and learn to put yourself first.
What advice would you give someone who wants to follow your footsteps?
Work hard, and don’t stop trying!
