OUPA MANYISA JOIN SUNDOWNS FROM RIVAL ORLANDO PIRATES
The Buccaneers made the announcement on Thursday during a press conference, where the chaiman of Pirates Irvin Khoza also unveiled Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic as their new head coach, replacing Kjell Jonevret who resigned on Wednesday.
Orlando Pirates have confirmed that their captain Oupa Manyisa has joined Mamelodi Sundowns on a three year deal.
Manyisa who was recently stripped of the Bucs captaincy following the club’s disastrous 2016/17 PSL season, will now swap Soweto for Chloorkop after agreeing terms with the Brazilians.
Khoza confirmed the news “Oupa Manyisa will be joining Sundowns.
“He has an unbelievable record with Pirates. He leaves to Sundowns as a highly decorated Pirates player. We are still busy finalising the details of the swap deal, said Khoza.
It looks like there would be some drastic changes in the Bucs setup as the chairman also revealed that they will be releasing some players and there would be changes in the technical team.
He said: “We are making sure correct some of the issues we had around the technical team. Soon we will be finalizing player and staff movements. We are hoping to finalize one or two deals for key positions before the start of the season.”
The buccaneers will also announce Sredojevic technical team before the club assemble for their camp which is scheduled for next week. Micho, as he is fondly known in the soccer fraternity, now returns to the hot seat after 10 years.
He previously mentored the Buccaneers for seven months from July 2006 to January 2007.
