FAMILY, fans and friends of actor Nyembezi Kunene will gather at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in zone 14 of Sebokeng, Ekurhuleni today.
They will be there to remember the life of the legendary actor, who passed away on Saturday at DR SK Matseke Memorial Hospital in Soweto after a long battle with diabetes.
The news of his death shocked many South African fans who loved watching him, particularly in his role as Malum’Jabulani Dlomo, the hilarious uncle of Sibusiso Dlomo inGenerations.
Family spokesman Sanqoba Kunene said the memorial service to honour his late father will start at 12pm.
He said residents, neighbours and relatives have been coming to comfort them.
He said: “It is always nice to have people around you, especially when you are mourning.
“We appreciate the support we are getting from the public and my dad’s former colleagues.”
Sanqoba told Daily Sun that among those confirmed to attend the memorial service are well-known actress Lillian Dube, friend and colleague Babsy Selela, poet Mzwakhe Mbuli and actor Jerry Phele, popularly known as Mofokeng from Emzini Wezinsizwa.
Kunene was also known for his role as Mchunu, a senior hostel security guard on SABC1’s Emzini Wezinsizwa. He had recently joined e.tv’s Scandal.
