MY RELATIVE WANT ME DEAD

Takalani said the suspect was still roaming the streets and police had made no effort to arrest him. He told us he was alone at home last Sunday afternoon when he heard glass breaking in one of the rooms.

Madala Takalani Sihongo (77) was living in peace and enjoying his retirement.

But his life was turned upside down after a relative attacked him out of nowhere. The pensioner, from Mashau Misevhe B in Thohoyandou, Limpopo, said he now fears for his life because cops failed to arrest his attacker.

“I went to inspect and a relative of mine confronted me. He accused me of having killed his younger brother in June. His brother was found murdered in the village in a street far from my house.

“ Back then he told me the names of people he suspected of killing his brother, but I advised him to report them to the cops.”Takalani said it was just luck that he’s still alive.

“I was staring death in the face and had to fight back while shouting at the top of my voice for help.

“Another villager arrived and we overpowered the man. After a short while he asked to go and relieve himself outside and ran away,” he added.

He said he reported the matter the following day but claimed police at Levubu Police Station mocked him, asking him why he was opening a case if the man hadn’t killed anyone.

“I’m no longer safe with a man who has vowed to kill me still roaming the streets,” the madala said.

Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed that a case of malicious damage to property was opened at Levubu cop shop.

He denied that police were not prepared to arrest the suspect and said the suspect was still on the run.
