Former President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe has died and President Emmerson Mnangagwa had a few words to say. The Zimbabwe President took to Twitter where he said – “It is with the utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe’s founding father and former President, Cde Robert Mugabe”
President Mnangagwa went on and said that Cde Mugabe was an icon of liberation. Despite the fact that Mugabe was forcefully removed as president, it doesn’t change the work he did to help Zimbabwe to gain Independence in 1980.
ED Tweeted – “Cde Mugabe was an icon of liberation, a pan-Africanist who dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people. His contribution to the history of our nation and continent will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace”
Zimbabweans clearly have mixed feelings when it comes to Mugabe. We have seen lots of condolence messages on Social Media, with some Zimbabweans even saying they had better lives under Mugabe compared to President Mnangagwa.
I wonder how all you readers feel about the passing of the Former President, tell us in comments.
