The former Bafana Bafana international, who scored eight goals in just 17 appearances during a year-long spell at the club, has identified their failure to find the net as an obvious problem for the team and has said that they lack any real threat from set-pieces, which was a saving grace for them in recent seasons.
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Mark Williams has given his thoughts on what the club needs to do to return to their best.
“The thing is that, with set-pieces, they aren’t as lethal as they used to be,” he told Soccer Laduma. “So, they need to bring in someone with the height that they need (to be dangerous again).”
Williams went on to say that Chiefs need an “exciting” player that can boast a return of 15 goals a season.
“Then, going forward, they need a player that’s exciting,” he continued. “(Bernard) Parker can be that player, but he’s exciting when running off the ball. The question is, ‘who’s going to score the goals?’ Parker is not going to score 15 goals a season.
He’s going to create goals, but he’s not going to score them. They have to look at players like those from days gone by like Pollen Ndlanya, Fani Madida or myself.”
