Local dance queen Chomee’s song leaked before official release
This as more than 10 illegal websites had the Mzansi dance queen’s hit song, Zozela Zalala, available for download ahead of its official CD and online release.
When asked for comment, Chomee said: “I have very mixed feelings at the moment.“One of my songs, produced after my departure from 999 Music, has blown up and it hurts that I won’t get a cent out of its popularity, thanks to piracy.”
It seems unscrupulous pirates are on a serious mission to stymie Chomee’s big comeback.
Recording Industry of South Africa’s (Risa) anti-piracy chairperson Arthur Mafokate this week lashed out against piracy.
Said Arthur: “We need to tighten the anti-piracy screws and government must assist us in this regard. As Risa, we are trying our best but more can be done.
“We plan to launch a big campaign to educate Africans about the dangers of piracy and its implications.”
He said Risa would go out of its way to ensure the culprits were brought to book.
