Striker Lennox Bacela has expressed his delight after registering his first league appearance in the 2014/2015 season though as a substitute.
Bacela, who came on for Mpho Makola in the 60th minute, was instrumental in setting up Sifiso Myeni for the all-important second goal in Pirates’ 2-1 victory over SuperSport United.
Speaking to Pirates official website, Bacela reveals how he intends to get back into the form that saw him earn the title as the club’s top goal scorer last season. He also goes on to highlight what strength he brings to the Bucs striking force.
“Well, for me it’s simple, I keep doing what I have been doing the whole time – working hard,” said Bacela.
“Outside of making it to the match day squad, I have a big responsibility to make sure that I push the other strikers to be even better, and also give the defenders a tough time in training.
“If I do that, and know for sure that Majoro, Kermit or Gabuza are giving their best on the pitch because I have pushed them in training, then that will be a victory in its own for me.
“What we do in training will ultimately translate onto the field so it’s important that we give our maximum at all times.”
The Buccaneers face University of Pretoria on Wednesday, November 26 and Bacela admits that there is no better time for Pirates to capatilise on the upcoming games than on Wednesday night.
“Aside from Tuks, there are massive games coming up, some of them at home, and we need to capitalize on them.
“The home games are important because no matter who we play, we have to be sure that we win at home. The big teams in Europe build their campaigns around being strong at home you know, and we have to maximize in those games.
“Tuks away will be a tricky game because you never know what to expect from them; we will have to be at our best.
“They have just recently lost their coach so whoever comes in will want to start their reign with a positive result against us.
“We expect that it will be tough and that they will come at us. But we also expect them to know that we will be giving it everything we have and hopefully when the final whistle blows we will be the last man standing,” concluded Bacela.
