AWARD-winning hip-hop artist Khuli Chana is apparently busy suing the police for no less than R2,7 million.
The latest information was announced by his management and lawyer yesterday.
They said as part of the process in the civil case, Khuli ’s lawyers submitted a letter to the police minister last Friday.
They said: “We highlighted what happened on the night in question, outlining costs incurred and income lost as a result of the shooting, and stating our intention to recoup this money via litigation.”
They added: “We do, however, remain hopeful that an amicable resolution to this painful episode can still be found.”
Khuli is also apparently suing for his medical expenses, future loss of earnings, damages, legal expenses and car repairs as a result of the shooting, which the police have insisted was a case of mistaken identity.
The South African Police Service has been given 30 days to respond.
Several attempts to get a comment from the police last night were unsuccessful.
