Khanyi Mbau: “I don’t Bleach It’s Skin lightening”
In an exclusive live stream with new live video streaming service VOOV South Africa Khanyi got very candid about what it entails to do her skin lightening and how much it costs and why she started it.
For years now Khanyi Mbau’s skin lightening has made news, and over time she seems to be getting more lighter. Many people have thrown shade at Khanyi over what they term her ‘dislike’ for being black, but she isn’t moved.
Skin lightening vs bleaching
Khanyi opened up about how her skin lightening journey started five years ago. She went on to explain was not bleaching her skin as suggested by other reports.
“I have always being intrigued by healthy skin and the science behind aesthetics, I have been 0n my skin journey for over 5 years and thus far it has brightened my skin,” Khanyi told DRUM.
In the video Khanyi explained why bleaching is dangerous as it contains chemicals that will damage one’s skin.
Part of her daily routine
Khanyi’s skin lightening process is done once a week and she said it takes about 20 minutes to do the treatment.
“The admin is real,” Khanyi said of skin lightening. “It’s like bleaching your hair, where when the roots become black you have to bleach the hair again,” she added.
Khanyi also took a swipe at people who said she was getting her skin lightened because she hated to be black.
“I am not shy of being black, I am very black but I am the free black. The liberated and free black. The one who if I want to do something I do it regardless of what people say,” Khanyi added.
Khanyi said that if people think that her lightening her skin is not African or black then black people should also look at things that they do that were considered white or western in the past and stop doing them
