At age 25 she has made her name with the kids’ show, YoTV on SABC1, Khanya has now established herself as an actress and has appeared in a number of dramas and soapies.
Among them are Shakespeare’s dramas like Ugugu no Andile and Taming of the Shrew.
Khanya plays Asanda in the SABC1 drama, Zone 14.
She has just added a lucrative role to her already shining portfolio as a young actress.
Khanya has joined the new and exciting Mzansi Magic soapie, Zabalaza, which means “to struggle”.
She plays the role of Mpilo Cele, a young lady who has just enjoyed a gap year with her father’s blessing, only to find that she has to grow up if she wants to be the next “it” girl.
She plays alongside big characters in the industry including Seputla Sebogodi, Manaka Ranaka and rapper turned actor Kabomo Vilakazi.
Speaking to SunBuzz, Khanya said she gives all credit to the SABC1 kids show YoTV.
“It gave me an opportunity to explore my choices, show my talent and to follow my passion.
“The show paved a way for my career and has groomed me to be what I am today.” Khanya toldSunBuzzshe enjoys portraying a role that resonates well with today’s lifestyle.
“I enjoy playing more mature roles, like that of a young adult who can make her own decisions and serve as a role model to the youth.”
Khanya was born in Peddie, in the Eastern Cape.
She obtained her BA degree in motion picture and television at Afda in Joburg.
The actress said she is planning to open her own fashion boutique in future.
“Fashion is also one my hidden passions, and I am waiting for the right moment to unleash it!” she said
