WHEN he heard a whistle outside, he armed himself with a walking stick, took a torch and went out to his death!
Daniel Nhantumbo (36) from Palm Ridge, Ekurhuleni, was found lying dead with no trousers and his dreadlocks cut off.
He was shot dead while trying to help a neighbour whose shop was being broken into.
“A neighbour came to my house and woke me up, saying that my husband had been shot. It’s so sad that he died trying to save someone’s life.
“I want justice for my late husband. He was a good man. Now my child will grow without a dad.” Shop owner Angelina Mathi (34) said: “I saw people breaking into my shop and I blew the whistle.
“After a while I heard them arguing with a man and suddenly there was a gunshot.
“I looked through the window and saw the men running away. It’s painful that Sophia lost her husband because he was trying to help me.”
Captain Mega Ndobe confirmed that a murder case was opened.
“No arrests have been made yet but the police are investigating.
“We appeal to the community to come forward with any information.”
