Gauteng police are searching for an unknown number of suspects after two elderly sisters were found murdered in their home in Lenasia Ext 11 this morning.
Police say the pair, aged between 60 and 62, could have been killed in the early hours of today.
“It is alleged that maybe a hammer was used in the committing of the offence. We don’t know whether they were raped but the forensics will reveal that,” said Captain Lucas Khoza.
The motive behind the killings is still unclear but police say there was no sign of forced entry.
“The house was ransacked, the wardrobes were open and clothes were out so we cannot confirm what was taken and what was not taken,” said Khoza.
“It is still very much early to know how many people were involved in this incident,” he added.
Officials are investigating a case of house robbery and two of murder.
