EFF leader Julius Malema says it’s surprising that his party is portrayed as violent when they have never engaged in violent acts.
“Recently in Mpumalanga one of our guys was shot at by ANC people but there was no noise about it,” he said at a media conference in Midrand, Joburg yesterday.
“We experienced violence in KZN, where stones and beer bottles were thrown at us by drunk ANC members. When the ANC disrupts our campaign meetings, the media say there is tension between the EFF and ANC.
“We do not disrupt anybody’s gatherings.”
He said he didn’t want ANC members to join his party, especially those who call him personally after joining.
“People like Paul Mashatile are the ones who should be joining us. Gauteng ANC members are good people. When Mashatile intervenes, as in Hammanskraal, he makes the ANC look bad.”
Malema also said:
- He doesn’t take the threat of being charged with treason seriously because he never said he’ll start a war.
- He won’t stand for mayor because it was obvious he would easily win.
- He thinks dagga should be legalised but in a professional and responsible way.
- Alcohol should be banned. “It is more dangerous than dagga. I’ve seen people who have smoked dagga reading, but I have never seen a drunk person reading.”
