Durban’s Jesus Dome burns down

The Durban Christian Church Jesus Dome off the N3 by Brickfield Road in Durban has gone up in flames. According to a video posted on the Rescue Care Facebook page, paramedics and firefighters are currently attending to the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the Brickfield Road as it has been closed.

The fire at the Durban Christian Centre also known as the Jesus Dome on the N3 has been contained.

Firefighters and emergency services who responded to the fire say the entire building was engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene earlier this evening.

According to paramedics half the building has already been destroyed.

A police officer diverting traffic away from the fire has sustained injures after he was hit by a passing car.

Director at Rescue Care Garrith Jamieson says the cause of the blaze has not yet been established.

“At this stage it’s hard to say because when we got here it was well alight and the Saps is here trying establish what led to the fire.”
