THEY stormed the church and robbed the Christians praying there of their personal belongings, and then dragged away a woman and raped her!
The congregants of the church at Mganduzweni Trust in Masoyi, near White River in Mpumalanga, were attacked by four armed men at midnight on 22 November.
They were forced at gunpoint to lie on the ground and were searched.
Colonel Leonard Hlathi said: “The thugs stole the church members’ personal belongings and then gang-raped a 21-year-old woman and sexually assaulted other women.”
On Friday, Mpumalanga police commissioner General Thulani Ntobela announced that two suspects aged 33 and 35 had been arrested.
Hlathi said: “The first suspect was nabbed on 2 December. He told cops about the second suspect, who was already behind bars in Nel-spruit for dealing in dagga. The two men have appeared in the Kabokweni Magistrates Court and were denied bail. The matter has been postponed to 8 January.”
