THE newborn baby girl is lucky to be alive today after she was dumped in a plastic bag in a field.
But the helpless baby, found wrapped in a bloody blanket, was saved by a passing woman on Friday.
She found the baby unharmed and healthy.
Busi told the People’s Paper: “I was on my way to buy airtime at the shop when I heard the baby crying in the field.
“I came across my neighbour, who told me that there was a baby crying in the field.
“I then went to investigate and found the baby girl wrapped in a plastic bag.
“I called the ambulance and the police.
“The baby was naked and it looked like she was born a couple of hours earlier.”
The police are trying to find the mother.
Paramedics checked the baby and found that there was nothing wrong with her.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela confirmed that a baby girl was discovered on Friday night.
Makhubela told Daily Sun: “The baby will be taken to a place of safety.
“A case of child abandonment has been opened.”
Makhubela appealed to anyone with information about the baby’s mother to contact the police.
