KWAITO singer Brickz will spend Christmas at home after over a month in custody.
According to a source, the condition of his bail is that he musn’t interfere with state witnesses. Brickz was still in police custody pending payment of his bail.
A source told Daily Sun that after Brickz – real name is Sipho Ndlovu – appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court yesterday, he was granted leave to appeal. The source said the appeal was kept a secret to avoid media attention.
The Tjovitjo hitmaker told the court in a previous appearance that he didn’t have any previous convictions whereas he was convicted for possession of cocaine in 2007.
He was sentenced to four months with an option of a R1000 fine. Half of the sentence was suspended.
But Brickz said he thought a fine meant he was paying an admission of guilt fine. Kotze called him a liar. Brickz’s lawyer Isaac Mokgobi declined to comment. Brickz’s relatives came to court yesterday wearing T-shirts bearing his face and the message: “Be Strong, Malume”.
- Brickz was bust for allegedly raping his 17-year-old niece. The matter was postponed to 9 January.
