MUSICIAN Brickz yesterday spent his thirteenth day behind bars after his bail application was postponed for the third time.
Magistrate Piet Kotze said he wanted certified copies of documents from the Randburg Magistrates Court in Joburg indicating whether the kwaito singer had been sentenced for drug possession or paid an admission of guilt fine.
He also wanted the reports of officers who responded to a domestic violence complaint made by Brickz’s girlfriend, Nqobile Ndlovu.
The singer, whose real name is Sipho Ndlovu, told the Roodepoort Magistrates Court that he had no previous criminal record, but the state said he had been convicted of drugs possession in 2007.
Brickz was arrested on 1November after he was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl at his Ruimsig home in March.
The state alleged that he had threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone.
Warrant Officer Joel Ngobeni told the court that the victim became terrified every time Brickz’s name was mentioned.
As Ngobeni spoke, the singer could be seen shaking his head.
Kotze postponed the matter to tomorrow after Brickz’s lawyer, Isaac Mokgobi, failed to convince the magistrate to hear the matter today.
