A minibus taxi and a VW Polo collided head-on in Sir Lowry’s Pass, east of Cape Town – Both vehicles burst into flames
The driver of a VW Polo died and another person was critically injured when the car collided head-on with a minibus taxi and both vehicles burst into flames on Sir Lowry’s Pass east of Cape Town on Saturday morning, paramedics said.
Four other people, believed to be in their 20’s, sustained moderate to minor injures in the collision, ER24 spokeswoman Annine Siddall said.
At the time of their arrival, ER24 paramedics found the taxi and Polo both engulfed in flames after the collision took place at about 8.30am, she said.
“The driver of the Polo could not get out of the vehicle in time and he was declared dead on the scene. ER24 transported one male passenger who sustained moderate injuries to Helderberg Hospital for further medical treatment,” Siddall said.
