2 Women & 1 Man ARRESTED carrying DRUGS on a BUS
3 bus passengers were arrested after being found carrying about R44 000 worth of dagga, and mandrax tablets worth R2 million. Cops bust them on Thursday in the Northern Cape.
Lieutenant-Colonel Dimakatso Mooi said: “A 31-year-old man was found in possession of Swazi Gold dagga. Two women aged 28 and 29 were also arrested on the bus in the Karoo with mandrax tablets.”
A charge of bribery was made against the man after he tried to bribe an officer with R800.
The police were conducting a week-long operation across the Northern Cape, Western Cape and Eastern Cape. Some 134 people were arrested for being in the country illegally, carrying firearms without a licence or other crimes.
Thousands of vehicles and people were stopped and searched. The cops also inspected 285 premises. Three .38 Special revolvers and 18 bullets were recovered from three people in the Eastern Cape.
A stolen Opel Corsa bakkie was seized in the Western Cape. A man was also arrested for having mandrax tablets and a huge amount of cash in his possession, which led to cops confiscating a trailer allegedly used to transport drugs.
